Is Donald Trump Really Such a Reckless Presidential Candidate?

Clearly because of his reckless utterances and body language, it now appears as if fellow republicans are ganging up against Donald Trump. They are not just sitting pretty and watching, they are voicing their objections very loudly. Here is a sampler. Fifty senior Republican national security officials issued a stinging rejection of their party’s White House nominee Donald Trump last Monday, warning he would be “the most reckless president in American history” if elected.
                                                                  Mr. Donald Trump

For now, it is difficult to understand whether this group is fighting for themselves, for the Republican Party, for America or just plainly trying to stop Donald Trump. They have collectively warned that the political neophyte’s “erratic behavior” has alarmed America’s closest allies and that he fails to recognize the indispensable nature of such diplomatic relationships.

Check out the array of dignified signatories to the petition which include Tom Ridge and Michael Chertoff, the first and second homeland security secretaries under President George W. Bush, former director of National Intelligence John Negroponte and Bush-era CIA director Michael Hayden. Also in the group are former US Trade Representative and World Bank president Robert Zoellick and Eric Edelman, former national security advisor to vice president Dick Cheney. The group is allied with members of the security establishment who have already come out against Trump, including former CIA director Michael Morell, who recently accused Mr. Trump of being an “unwitting agent” of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

There are more interesting times ahead for Donald Trump, the Republican Party and American politics.
