If you don’t know where you are going, you can hardly know when you arrive. Worse still, chances are very high you could end up someplace else. You can’t afford to let that be your lot.
Setting goals is like setting a direction. With goals, you can measure your progress as you go along. More importantly, you know when you have arrived by the time you achieve your goals. The possibility of getting somewhere else unintended is very remote because your goals must be S-M-A-R-T. That is, they must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound. That is how best to be sure you know where you are going and when you get there.
