Why You Can't Get Something-for-Nothing

Anyone who thinks he or she can get something-for-nothing forgets the natural law of “Cause and Effect.” The law of “Cause and Effect” is very thorough and does not spare the indolent. Even in physics, the law has been proven to work effectively. It simply means “action and reaction are always equal and opposite.” What you give is in direct proportion to what you get. In computer parlance, it is GIGO, “Garbage In, Garbage Out.” There is no free-lunch anywhere except in a mouse-trap. According to Napoleon Hill, “Life has no bargain counters. Everything has a price which must be paid in one form or another. No man is smart enough to cheat life. It has been tried by the smartest of men without success.” You can’t get something for nothing. What a farmer sows is what he reaps. “Life is like a cafeteria. You take your tray, select your food and pay at the other end. You can get anything you want as long as you are willing to pay the price. In a cafeteria, if you wait for people to serve you, you will wait forever.”  That is life for you. You make choices and pay the price to succeed.  Anyone who desires to go contrary to this natural course of events is making a clear choice to be poor. Poverty is a choice. Wealth is also a choice. What determines which you choose, is your thought-process followed by positive-action. That is what makes the difference.

 

Why You Must Always Make Good Choices

There are two sides to every coin, so it is with life. What you see is what you choose to see. Life chooses for you when you hesitate or refuse to choose for yourself. The choice life gives you cannot be the best for you because life does not know your taste. It is you and you alone who know best what you want. The choice of which way to take is yours alone. The choice of what to do and what not to do is also yours. You can choose the way to success or to failure, to wealth or to poverty. There is no such reality as failure unless you accept it as such. This is a clear choice; which is yours alone. To make it rich, you must steer clear of failures and avoid things that failures do. Take a look around you, no doubt you will find that those who have failed in life and are generally living poor have a lot in common. They tend to make poor and unhelpful choices all the time.

 

 

Women Too Do Make Real Money

Money-making does not depend on your gender. Statistics indicate that there are more male millionaires than females. That is hardly surprising as it is indicative of a male-dominant world. Females themselves have also held their own in wealth-creation and accumulation. 

Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 in the backwoods of a Mississippi little known town of Kosciusko USA to an unmarried teen-age mother.  She resolved early in life to work hard and be successful. This mindset lured her into show business. This is how she became a television talk-show host that has earned her fame and wealth. Ms. Winfrey worked hard and became the head of many companies under her HARPO Inc. which employed many people, both male and female. She at some stage became arguably the most popular talk-show host in the world. By 1993, she was reported to be earning about $98 million dollars per year. Not bad for a little black girl born into abject poverty in a race-tainted United States in the fifties.

These days, you can see multi-millionaire female stars like the Kardashians, Williams sisters, Jennifer Lopez and many others whose careers cut across Talk-show hosting, Sports, Music, Business and many other fields of human endeavor. Women are really making money in this age and time and that is very good for humanity.

 

Do You Know That Wealth is a Choice?

By the way, so is poverty. The choice of whether to be rich or poor is open to everyone no matter his race, sex or color. What you get is through deliberate efforts not by chance. Chance numbers only work in a casino. Anyone who gambles with his or her life must pay a stiff price at the end of the day. The person, who has the best idea, does the best business and consequently makes the most money. This has little or nothing to do with your physical strength and or composition. It is purely a mind and action thing. 

Psychologists generally agree that “there is a deep tendency in human nature to become precisely like that which you habitually imagine yourself to be.”  If you avoid thinking poor, you can avoid poverty. Anybody can therefore make money and be wealthy if they do the right things with the requisite passion. There are no obstacles to making money other than those in your mind. If the mind is subject to everyone’s control, why should some people be jobless and poor? People who choose to apply themselves positively make money while those who refuse or neglect to apply themselves usefully and adequately remain poor. This choice is open to everyone. It is a matter of choice not chance.

 

How to Get Started in a Business

Every business on this planet started as an idea, someone’s idea. Fact is, any business became a business because someone saw a problem or a need; found a Service or Product that solved the problem or satisfied the need and a business was born. This is the only time-tested pattern of establishing a business and be self-employed. That you can not find a business for yourself does not mean there is business scarcity. The only scarcity is that of ideas, your ideas. This is why I am always bold to say that nobody has a money problem. It is only ideas problem that most people have hence they remain poor. If you can identify what someone needs desperately and you are able to deliver it to them at the time and place convenient for them, you will be paid for your service. That is what business is all about.

The late world-renowned psychologist Dr. Abraham Maslow was able to clearly identify five needs of man which he arranged at levels of their order of importance beginning from basic biological needs and ending at psychological needs. These needs became popularly known as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. He posited that if a lower need is fully satisfied there is need to move up the ladder to satisfy another need. Thus from the basic Physiological needs of food , air, water, shelter etc, you move on to Safety and Security needs of protection, order and stability then Social needs of affection and friendship then Ego needs of prestige, success and self-respect and finally Self-actualization needs of self-fulfillment. There is no business known to man that is not tailored to satisfy one or more of these needs.

People any day and any time will pay for any Product or Service that tends to satisfy any of these needs. The desire to satisfy the very nature of these needs will make people pay you if you can do anything for them that will:

o    Help them to make or save money.
o    Help them to save time.
o    Provide them with basic physiological needs like food, shelter and clothing.
o    Help to enhance their security, safety and comfort.
o    Amuse, entertain and generally help them to relax.
o    Make them feel good about themselves and their environment.



Any Product or Service you can develop along these lines and people pay to have it is what puts you in business. When people say businesses are scarce, it means ideas are scarce. To go into business, it is imperative for you to find a way of offering a cheaper, better, safer, tastier, cleaner, faster, healthier, fresher, higher quality Product or Service relating to any of these needs. If you can, you are in business. The price you charge depends on the quality of your Product or Service and the competence of your competitors. The more of your Product or Service you are able to sell, the more money you make. This is the beginning of wealth accumulation and better life. Once the right ideas are in place, there are unlimited opportunities to make money. That some people end up not making it in spite of these unlimited opportunities is one of the puzzles of wealth accumulation. “The way you take yourself, the way you value yourself and the way you apply yourself are the primary determinants of your ultimate station in life.” You are therefore what you believe you are and what you apply yourself to be.

The ingenuity of humankind is a wonderful gift from God. It is in us all. How we deploy it is what separates the poor from the rich. God is a just God no doubt, but our inabilities to use His gifts for our own benefit is our own fault not His. All His gifts to us have equal potentials. How we deploy these gifts to beneficial use is what separates us as humans. This is what makes the difference between the rich and the poor. “The world only pays for results not efforts.” The result of what you do is what you get paid for. This is what enables you to get ahead in life. Napoleon Hill capped this argument finally with his brilliant conclusion that: “There are no lazy men. What may appear to be a lazy man is only an unfortunate person who has not found the work for which he is best suited.” If you have not found yours, this article will assist you to take the all-important decision to do something to help yourself.
