Do you have a business idea you think is great? Is it capable of making money for you when you promote it vigorously? If your answer to both of these questions is in the affirmative, that’s great! Not very many people know what to do and how they can possibly do it to make money particularly online. If you want to succeed in an online business, take these here tips seriously.

01. Identify what you know and can claim some expertise at. You will be amazed to find out that nearly everyone knows at least one thing better than most other people. There must be something you are good at and what you enjoy doing. It is that “thing” you are likely to succeed at when the chips are down. That is what is best to do if you want to have any measure of success doing business online.

02. Get a simple user-friendly Website. This is inevitable. You need it to showcase what you are doing in the deep and wide virtual world of the internet. It serves the purpose of your online office and frontline store. That is where you do business with customers online. You may incur some minimal costs to purchase a domain name and web hosting and your site will be up and running.

03. Convince yourself that you can do business online. You must find real compelling reasons to do business online. That is exactly what you need to be motivated to start the business and to keep it going. It could be tough and frustrating as you move along but with strong motivation, you can stay on it no matter the ups and downs you may encounter along the way. You must be able to deal with those bumps in the road because at the beginning, not everything you do will be perfect.

04. Set up a simple plan of action. A plan will help you to stay focused because there could be many distractions online. It is good to have a plan and to stick to it as far as possible but be prepared to be flexible and open minded. Sometimes the most unexpected opportunities may come your way and you need to be ready to seize them. Like the motto of Boy scouts says, “Be Prepared.”

05. Link up with mentors. You can learn from someone who has done something similar. That is a mentor whom you can readily bounce ideas off and who can encourage you when things get tough. Having a mentor is invaluable in any online business. In online business, mentors are not very difficult to find. Many of them have bragging rights about how successful they are in the business even though much of it could be pure hype because they want to sell you something. You can get good books to read and many authors to relate with through feedback.

06. Identify with a business niche. Your business must be tied to a specific business niche. That way, everyone online looking to do business in that niche finds you out fairly easily. If your business can not be identified in a particular niche, it is sufficient reason for search engines to ignore your website completely.

07. Write a blog about your business. Writing a blog is one marketing tool which helps to bring online surfers to your website. The words you write have a direct impact on how successful your online business will be. Because of that, you have to be aware of keyword search optimization so that the major search engines will pick up your site. That way, the search engines may rank your site high enough for surfers to find it easily.

08. Identify a secure way to receive/make payments. Being in business is all about making money. It is your duty to decide how to sell in cash or credit depending on the outfits you trust. You can use secure and reputable sites like PayPal and credit card outfits like MasterCard to get payments and to make payments. There are many businesses online that do process credit card payments for a low monthly fee. Dealing with these ones simply means you don't have to set up a merchant account of your own. Now, that’s cool!

09. Automate responses to your customers. Because it is virtually impossible to be online 24/7, you need some form of automation. Since you can not personally reply to every enquiry, you can create a FAQ which you can post on your website and refer people to by auto-responder. That somehow makes up for the periods you are offline and unable do business directly with your customers.

10. Identify credible ways to reach and stay in touch with customers. In order to turn your online business into a profitable business, you must find very reliable ways to reach your customers. Modern internet communication channels come in very handy here. Emails, Social media channels and suchlike popular online interaction channels which suit your purpose can be engaged at little or no monetary costs whatsoever.

Why CBN Barred Nine Banks from Forex

Calculator and currency displays for forex business.

Street talk in Nigeria has it that Nigerian Banks operate like legitimate businesses run by crooks or more like crooked businesses run by dubious people. It appears Nigeria’s Central Bank has just found that one out. As part of its regulatory functions and in a very clear reaction to it, the CBN has barred nine erring commercial banks from all foreign exchange transactions and operations. A very severe punishment and quite shocking indeed considering the importance of Forex to the overall viability and profitability of most Nigerian money deposit Banks.

Reports coming out of the apex Bank indicate that the nine banks were barred for hiding some $2.12 billion belonging to the nation’s oil corporation, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. That they all deliberately neglected or failed to remit the funds into the Treasury Single Account, TSA, a key policy trust of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The Banks are to remain shut out from foreign exchange transactions until they fully remit the NNPC funds into government coffers via the Treasury Single Account, the apex Bank insists.

Why the Physically Challenged Can Make Money

Make Money with various currencies on display.
Have you heard of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and other physically challenged persons who are using their God-given talents to earn good money to make a living? Good if you have. Here let me tell you the story of Jose Feliciano who incidentally is less well known as the first two just mentioned.

Jose Feliciano was born blind in Puerto Rico at a time and in a place where even able-bodied people had a tough time making a living. His handicap notwithstanding, he pursued his passion for music by acquiring an old guitar and teaching himself to play. His passion for music was so great that he at times practiced until his fingers bled. He moved on to become one of the greatest musicians of our time and earned millions of dollars from his works. One of the finest pieces of music ever played is a Christmas carol called “Feliz Navidad.” It was written by Jose Feliciano.

Just like Jose Feliciano and all others, all you need is to find your passion and deploy it to good use. You too can make money even if you are physically challenged.

Money-Making Does not depend on How Educated You Are

Make money with various currencies and notepad on work station.

This is no longer big news! The man who at some point was the richest in the world, Mr. Bill Gates dropped out of school to pursue his dreams. Many people around the world who are very rich today cannot be said to be well educated in the sense of formal schooling. Many are only well educated from experience in the business world. Back in Nigeria, Prince Samuel Adedoyin is reported to have had only secondary school education but started out in business when he was only 13 years old. He later founded Doyin Investments and started manufacturing household consumables that have been competing favorably with products of multi-nationals like Unilever. His other business interests have spanned Real Estate and Properties, Banking, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Motor Vehicles.

These are all commendable achievements from a man who did not go beyond secondary school. His success has earned him a lot of respect and recognition at home and abroad. He has made a lot of money from his investments and businesses. As a result, he currently enjoys considerable wealth and comfort from his efforts. A large percentage of successful entrepreneurs in Nigeria have similar low educational background as Prince Adedoyin’s.

Do You Know What Ransomware Is?

Computer screen display of sales force.

Yes you guessed right! They are a bunch of malwares cyber criminals now deploy with extreme dexterity to attack your business. Ransomware now appears to be the biggest malware threat in the world. According to security researchers, the number of ransomware victims increased by a shocking 550 percent in less than a year, from 131,000 in 2015 to 718,000 in 2016.

Why has ransomware become such a big and universal problem? It is because currently, it does not just affect big businesses, it appears as if cyber criminals are increasingly targeting small businesses too. Considering the number of small businesses out there online, you can just imagine the enormity of the problem. These wares are very deadly for your small business and they can wipe you out completely in a matter of seconds. They are that dangerous.

There is hope though. You can with some deliberate care protect your small business from ransomware. Here is how. You should be extremely careful with attachments and links sent to you via email, even from people you trust. That is one very vital tip since the most used ransomware vector now, according to security researchers, is through emails with malicious attachments and links to infected websites. The next tip is precautionary. It is vital for small businesses to always have a backup of important files offsite. With backup offsite files, you could just easily restore your important files from your offsite backup if you ever get hit by any ransomware variant. However, the best form of protection is to avoid getting hit at all. That is cheaper and safer for you and your business.
