The Value of Focus

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.” ~ Swami Vivekananda

Ideas rule the world. Yes indeed! Once you get a good idea about something you want to do, you can never make meaningful progress on that idea if you are unable to muster sufficient focus and attention on the idea. The more you focus on it, the better you can understand it. The more you think about it, the better you can make use of it. It is virtually impossible for any problem to completely defeat your thinking process if you are able to muster sufficient focus on the problem. That is reason why the sun’s rays only burns when brought to focus. Harnessing all resources at your disposal and directing them to solving one problem is a faster and better way to get that problem solved. That is the power of focus.

Let me strengthen this discourse further with these quotes from 3 world famous authors and writers:

“Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives." - Anthony Robbins

"Nothing can add more power to your life than concentrating all your energies on a limited set of targets." - Nido Qubein

"What you choose to focus your mind on is critical because you will become what you think about most of the time." - Noel Peebles

How Unwavering Attention Grows Your Business

“The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.” ~ Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee may have been a successful and renowned martial artist but perhaps unknown to him, his lessons in that beautiful trade of his apply squarely in our everyday business lives. It is difficult if not impossible to get any business problem solved if you are unable to direct your focus on the problem and how to solve it.

To succeed in any venture, you must be able concentrate fully on it and what it takes to achieve it. Sadly and very pathetically, most people have no idea of the giant capacity they can immediately command when they focus all of our resources on mastering just one vital aspect of their business lives. That is the magic of focus. If you want to add more power to your business life, you must be able to concentrate all your energies on a limited set of targets involving the growth of your business. That is what brings about favorable results more easily. It is human nature somehow to become exactly what you focus on most of the time. It is for that reason business gurus always advise their mentees to always endeavor to concentrate their thoughts fully on any business they have at hand at any particular point in time. As Alexander Graham Bell likes to say, “The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus." So it is in all aspects of our business lives. Take my advice, to get it done, you must fully concentrate on it and concentrate you must unless you want to remain stagnated where you currently are. I believe you can do better, but do you? Just find your focus and you will.

Get busy right now because…. “No pains, no gains. To get the prize, you must pay the price.”

Why Lack of Self-discipline Can Make You Poor

Two hands holding two $100 dollars bills, ring, bracelet and wrist watch.

“If we are born poor, it is not our fault, but if we die poor, it is!”…… Bill Gates

Nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without discipline. When you have no discipline, you are incapable of committing yourself to any job or business. You lack consistency, sincerity, reliability, punctuality, focus and dependability. “Self-mastery is the hardest job you will ever tackle. If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.” Check the records; the role of honor for champions does not include men and women who lack self-discipline. Without discipline, only a miracle can save you from the jaws of poverty.

You may succeed to make millions but lack of discipline on your part will soon fritter the whole lot away. Former world heavy-weight boxing champion Mike Tyson who won millions of dollars from his fights became broke within five years of his last major fight purely on account of lack of discipline. It can happen to anyone who still does not believe that everyone needs iron-discipline to make and keep money. “Self-discipline, through an appropriate and strictly enforced budget of time and expenditures is an essential for financial independence.”  This is a price anyone who hopes to attain financial independence must pay. For example, I chose to “punish” myself and literary drove myself crazy to put these articles together. Sometimes, even at very odd hours of the night I chose to stay awake to write. I had a choice either to sleep or go partying but instead I wrote and kept on writing to meet my dead-line. This is the kind of price many people are unwilling or unable to pay to achieve something. That is mainly why they remain poor.
