Why Lack of Self-discipline Can Make You Poor

Two hands holding two $100 dollars bills, ring, bracelet and wrist watch.

“If we are born poor, it is not our fault, but if we die poor, it is!”…… Bill Gates

Nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without discipline. When you have no discipline, you are incapable of committing yourself to any job or business. You lack consistency, sincerity, reliability, punctuality, focus and dependability. “Self-mastery is the hardest job you will ever tackle. If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.” Check the records; the role of honor for champions does not include men and women who lack self-discipline. Without discipline, only a miracle can save you from the jaws of poverty.

You may succeed to make millions but lack of discipline on your part will soon fritter the whole lot away. Former world heavy-weight boxing champion Mike Tyson who won millions of dollars from his fights became broke within five years of his last major fight purely on account of lack of discipline. It can happen to anyone who still does not believe that everyone needs iron-discipline to make and keep money. “Self-discipline, through an appropriate and strictly enforced budget of time and expenditures is an essential for financial independence.”  This is a price anyone who hopes to attain financial independence must pay. For example, I chose to “punish” myself and literary drove myself crazy to put these articles together. Sometimes, even at very odd hours of the night I chose to stay awake to write. I had a choice either to sleep or go partying but instead I wrote and kept on writing to meet my dead-line. This is the kind of price many people are unwilling or unable to pay to achieve something. That is mainly why they remain poor.
