Why Determination is Key to Solving Your Problems

Birds nest with silver and gold coins and a dollar bill.
"A determined soul will do more with a rusty monkey wrench than a loafer will accomplish with all the tools in a machine shop." -Robert Hughes

Hear this! Determination is the potent key to unlocking most problems slowing down progress in your business life. Once you resolve to keep things going no matter the odds, sooner than later, you will discover that you achieved all the goals you set for yourself inspite of all the problems you encountered on the way. When you have a job to do, getting that job done is highly dependent on how determined you are to get it done. Getting it done does not depend exclusively on how talented you are, how experienced you are and how much resources you have at your disposal. You may have all these and still fail to get it done if you are not determined enough. With determination, you can easily command enormous energy, intelligence, talent and direction to surmount obstacles. That is why things get to work out in your favor.

When a man is not determined, even if you give him all the equipment, money and the right environment to help solve a problem, he will fail woefully at the job. But a determined person with fewer resources can solve problems better and faster than the person who is not so determined. That is the key. Just think about it. Have you realized that at any point in time, you are either in a problem, heading out of a problem or heading straight into a problem? That there is neither an escape nor a hiding place from life’s problems unless you are dead? That there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop obstacles altogether? Good if you have. The moment you realize this, that is the beginning of your own resolve to stay determined in whatsoever you find yourself doing. That is the surest way to always achieve your goals without fail, obstacles or not.

How to Live Daringly

“Live daringly, boldly, fearlessly. Taste the relish to be found in competition – in having put forth the best within you.” ~ Henry J. Kaiser

Life is a daring adventure no matter your station in life, business or calling. You can never get somewhere unless you are prepared to dare and to brave the consequences. Staying focused and the ability to persist no matter the odds is the hallmark of great champions whether in business, in life or in any field of human endeavor. One great American statesman John Calvin Coolidge left these immortal lines to the world, "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

You must decide to live daringly, boldly and fearlessly if you want to achieve anything worthwhile in this world. As H. Ross Perot tells us, "Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown."

Why You Must Use Your Talent

“The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives.” --Albert Schweitzer

Everyone is endowed from birth with some form of talent which varies from individual to individual. How we use this talent is what differentiates us as humans in our quest for a living. The biggest burden anyone can carry is to have nothing to do. Our individual uniqueness is our strength in the use of our talents. Whatever you do, identify and use your God-given talent to earn a living. In the early 70s, people like Ali Baba and Basket Mouth would readily have been written-off as mad men. But these days, many talented young Nigerians like them have deployed their God-given talent for comedy into positive use. These stand-up comedians now rank among the highest-paid entertainers in Nigeria.

A major tragedy of human existence is the belief by some people (usually failures and never-do-wells) that they do not have what it takes to change their lives for the better. They believe that they were not born lucky. That they were not born into the right families, under the right circumstances and even in the right environment or country. Some even believe that God gave them the wrong sex. They regret all their physical attributes as the wrong ones. They accept their lots as predetermined before they were born and that destiny is simply taking its course in their lives. How wrong can they be? Unknown to these people, they are denying themselves a major gift from their Creator. There is no human being that was not born with at least one talent which he or she must be grateful to God for. It is your duty to identify this talent, hone it and use it to better your life. You are not a failure and you can never be a failure unless and until you accept, either from your actions and or inactions that you are a failure. Find your talent and use it. It is your inalienable right which no one can deny you.
