How to Help Your Affiliates Build Their Downlines

A team of affiliate marketers in work station with computers and sundry work tools.
Permit me to refer you to SFI Success Rule 3. It says “Lead by Example.” That means if you want the affiliates in your downline to sponsor affiliates, then make sure you are doing so yourself. You must be able to sponsor affiliates and become proficient in it before you can show and teach your affiliates the best ways to do so. You must realize that in the key area of duplication, your affiliates are definitely watching! Show them what it means to be a strong, active sponsor and they too will become strong, active sponsors and help you further your growth and profits. Whatever you want your affiliates to do, you must habitually do it also, because they are following your lead.

Encouraging your downline affiliates to do what you are doing is the best way to teach them how to build their downline. That means, if you are unable to build your downline yourself, you can’t possibly teach anyone how to build their own downline.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Building Your Downline

Every SFI affiliate who seriously wants to succeed in the business needs a very active and viable downline. That is where PSAs come into the picture. The interesting thing about SFI is that every affiliate who has a downline also has an upline. That means someone’s upline is somebody else’s downline. Coming to your question, the “Golden Rule” of that relationship is….”Do not do to your downline what you will not want your upline to do to you.” If you adhere strictly to that rule, you can manage to avoid nearly all the mistakes many sponsors usually make.

Arising from that conclusion, I am inclined to draw your attention specifically to the following common mistakes:

- Dealing with your downline as if they are your employees instead of business partners.
- Bossing it over your downline.
- Getting too personal.
- Prying into your PSAs personal life.
- Dealing with your downline as if they are not human beings.
- Misleading your downline.
- Not attending to their concerns promptly.
- Attempting to run the business for your downline.
- Too frequent/meaningless communications with your downline.
- Pushing your downline to do the things they are unwilling to do.
- Totally ignoring your downline.
- Inducing your downline with financial rewards.
- Criticizing your downline.
- Finding faults with your downline.

In SFI, nearly all affiliates have at one time or another made some or even all of these mistakes. As a new affiliate who wants to build a viable downline, it is always advisable to take the advice of SFI as it relates to sponsoring affiliates. Check it out on this link:

In there, you will be acquainted with the Dos and Don'ts of sponsoring. If you study them very well and keep to them, you will manage to avoid many of the common mistakes most new affiliates make when building their downlines.

Why it is Easier to Promote SFI to Friends and Family

You can promote SFI to friends, family and even strangers if you think you can get them to be interested in the business. What matters the most is getting people to pick interest in the business whether you have any prior relationship with them or not. Having said that, I recall one SFI lesson which reveals that if anyone finds something good, it is logical that the first point of call are friends and family. There is no doubt that SFI as a business is something good. On that score alone, I think it is better to promote SFI first to friends and family before strangers. This position is further strengthened by the following reasons:

1. It is easier to build trust quickly among friends and family.
2. Friends and family are everyday people you see and interact with so you can easily promote any business to them.
3. With friends and family, it is easy to know very quickly who will be interested in the business.
4. With close proximity of friends and family, sponsoring is easier, cheaper and more productive.
5. With friends and family, building team spirit is a given.
6. Offline promotion is easier with friends and family.
7. Not many people are bold enough to approach strangers but with friends and family the barrier is off.
8. With friends and family, there is already “something” that bonds the relationship which can be extended to business conveniently.
9. Suspicion and skepticism are lowest with friends and family.
10. It is by far easier to promote any business to friends and family than strangers.
11. Communication is easier and more productive with friends and family.

For these and many other reasons, I believe it is better to promote SFI first to friends and family before strangers.

In SFI business, many marketing methods are cheap but not completely free. Many could be so cheap as to look free. Cheap and affordable ok but certainly not free. Since your question is specifically asking for best FREE methods for attracting and sponsoring affiliates, the following readily come to mind.
