How Reciprocal Linking Works

A mobile phone held over link building graphics.
In the very early days of the Internet, people approached all incoming links through “asking and permission.” But, as the Internet expanded and became more sophisticated, it is becoming more difficult to get links to your site just by asking. What has changed? Reciprocal exchanges now put something on the table for the benefit of all parties. You must have something good to offer now to get something in return. Welcome to “reciprocal link exchanges.” If you run a poor website, you can hardly get reciprocal links from a good site. The real reason, you must ensure at all times that your website is up to scratch otherwise you can’t hope to take good advantage of this highly technical Internet engagement.

Technically, the more links you have pointing to your website, the better the site is in the “eyes” of Search Engines. The higher these engines rate your sight, the more traffic they send to it. Every good marketer always wants traffic, traffic and more traffic. Good linking as exemplified by reciprocal links manages to get this traffic. Even though very large Search Engines like Google are very finicky about links, what is true is that they never notice your site if it does not have good “backlinks.” One clear fact is, any site with no links to it will never rank high in many search engines. As every good Internet marketer very well knows, bad/poor links are as good as no links at all. If you want links, it is best to go for good and positive links as seen in the “eyes” of Search Engines.

Since not all links are quality links, what every marketer really needs are quality links from quality sites that are on-subject with the subject matter of your own site. This is why marketing experts advise marketers to always explore credible ways to offer articles, photos, awards, testimonials, or other similar content to quality sites in exchange for a link back. That is reciprocal linking and it works only by deliberate efforts since no smart person will offer any of these activities on sites he/she judges as bad sites. If you judge a site as good and you get backlinks from it, fine. That is great for your efforts at reciprocal linking. Through deliberate efforts too, you can establish an authoritative presence on discussion boards and blogs dealing with the subject matter of your own website. Good reciprocal linking also comes your way as a result of such positive efforts.

How to Get Links to Your Website

A white on red backlink banner held up front by a man on dark jacket.
This appears to be the turf of Internet experts and online business gurus. It is highly technical too. One must therefore be very careful taking on this subject because it is still subject of intense debates among many marketers. My own opinion is based solely on what I have learned over time from the limited information I have managed to come across on the subject. To get links to your website, first you must have a website properly so called. That is a given! The site must be interesting, easily accessible/navigable and enjoyable. It must be worthy of links enabling people to find it easily. Links to your site act exactly like Internet pathways directing and leading Internet users through the Internet’s “electronic jungle” to your site. Knowing what the Internet is, that can not by any approach be an easy task. But, it is doable and is being done by many marketers who know their ways around the Internet.

To get links to your site, you must be on the Internet and must be found easily in it. You must depend more on Internet Search Engines to bring you out for others to find. Therefore, you must explore and exploit ways to get these Search Engines to “like” your website. The best place to have links to your site is on the most popular search engines particularly Google. These Search Engines are very smart, finicky and efficient and are very good in what they do. To get them to like and be friendly to your site, you must routinely do what they like and tolerate in the management of your own website. That is your very first hurdle. They do not hesitate to penalize any site that goes against their rules of engagement. That is one warning signal you can’t afford to ignore.

Why do you really need links? Great question! Traditionally, the more links you have to your website, the better the site is in the “eyes” of Search Engines. For that reason, the Engines tend to direct more traffic to such sites. Every smart marketer always wants traffic, traffic and more traffic. The more of it you get, the better for your business! Years past, it used to be more fashionable to simply ask other sites for links. But, when Search Engines started dishing out penalties for what later became popularly known as “poor links,” most marketers went back to the drawing board. Now, reciprocal link exchanges are the in thing. Nobody now forces any links on anyone. It remains your decision which links to accept or decline so as to play safe with Search Engines.

In the very early days of the Internet, people approached all incoming links through “asking and permission.” But, as the Internet expanded and became more sophisticated, it is becoming more difficult to get links to your site just by asking. You must have something good to offer now to get something in return. Welcome to “reciprocal link exchanges.” If you run a poor website, you can hardly get reciprocal links from a good site. The real reason, you must ensure at all times that your website is up to scratch otherwise you can’t hope to take good advantage of this very complicated Internet engagement.

Expert Blogger Marketing Tip: Service Your Leads

Digital marketing on display graphics.
In blogging business, it is not enough to build links and leads. You must devise ways to test and service these links and leads for good results. One of such ways is to keep a keen eye on the growth of your Email list. By so doing, you become the credible source of information in your niche. That credibility helps your blog to build backlinks to your site. Backlinks determine the sites that are linking to your website, thus building your site’s authority.

That is what Google Search Engine really loves. So, if you want to build your rank on the search engines, you become THE authority in your niche. Simple! You must explore all ways to routinely create content that others will link to and share all over the internet. The real reason you must strive to be the reliable expert in your industry. You must however be willing to build your authority over time by earning the respect and trust of your audience. That requires some real work and overnight success is not guaranteed. The real reason you must keep innovating and honing in on what your buyers want. Be willing to be ahead of the curve and to offer products and services that you know meet their needs before they even know they have those needs. You must be the leader in using specific terms and phrases in your industry. Be the source that first coins the phrases and uses them repeatedly in your marketing campaigns. Real authority is derived therefrom and the Search Engines love to showcase that.

Best Keywords to Use when Placing SFI Ads

Digital marketing graphics.
If you want to profit from the use of keywords/phrases on the Internet, you will have to be professional about your efforts. When placing ads, professional Webmasters always say that phrases appear to be more effective than just single words. The first thing to do therefore is to identify your competitors or those in the same market niche as yours then research them using Google analytics to find out which keywords/phrases work best for them. From your results, you can then derive your own keywords/phrases with a view to bettering the advertising efforts of your competitors. That is the best way to go about it.

In doing so, you must take into account the following tips:

1. Try to avoid highly Generic terms that are used across multiple niche markets.
2. Avoid using keyword/phrases that lead to keywords stuffing.
3. Avoid heavily used and abused words on the Internet like “blast” and “MLM” etc.
4. Research your competition and see what they are doing that works best for them.
5. Identify the sites which rank very high in Search Engines where your competitors’ ads are shown and find out their search terms and phrases.
6. Avoid search terms which do not sufficiently describe the information page you want your visitors to see.
7. Concentrate on creating useful, information-rich content which uses keywords naturally within the context of your text.

Having said all that, you are no doubt aware that the primary aim of every online ad is to attract the attention of visitors to your site. You will therefore need to focus your ads both generally and for specific targets based on the keywords/phrases you have decided to use. In SFI, such keywords/phrases must lay emphasis on the following key areas:

- the freedom to join SFI without upfront costs.
- the opportunity to start earning immediately.
- the potential of building a lasting residual income.

Arising from the above and from my own experience, I have found the following keywords/phrases very useful and I do recommend them as well.

”Free to join,” “Work at home,” “Earn a second paycheck,” “Build Residual Income,” “Free training/support,” “Earn money online,” “Residual income opportunity,” “No obligations to join,” “Home business,” “Real Internet Income.”

I hope this information is helpful? Good luck in your marketing efforts.

What Makes one Safe-list Better than Another

Work station with calculator, digital reports and a silver pen.
I do understand that safe-lists (aka Mailers) are sites SFI affiliates can register on to expose their businesses by e-mail advertising with a very high probability of good patronage. What makes one safe-list better than the other depends on the integrity of the site and its ranking in Search Engines. That is why you just have to consider the following when trying to distinguish one safe-list from another in terms of quality.

1. Is the listing site free or paid for?
2. How does it rank in Search Engines.
3. How frequently does the list send out the e-mails?
4. What types of listings does it allow?
5. Is it owner/creator-managed?
6. What additional perks does the list offer?
7. How long has it been in successful safe-listing business?
8. How favorable are the testimonies of users?
9. How many members are registered on the site?
10. How convenient it is to use the lists?
11. Does it mail only to its registered members?
12. How large is its e-mail addresses bank?

With these considerations, you can make informed-judgment about the quality of safe-lists.

How Best to Set up SEO on Your Website

SEO marketing strategies mounted as road signs.
My first thought here is to ask “why don’t you leave such a technical matter to professionals?” Search Engine Optimization, SEO is a highly technical matter which Webmasters can best handle. If however as an affiliate in SFI you want to delve into SEO yourself, make sure you use words and phrases on your site which Search Engines are looking for based on your site tags. The higher the SEO, the more visible your site becomes on the web in the “eyes” of Search Engines. Of course you know that the more “visible” your site is, the higher the number of “hits” to your site. The higher the number of hits, the higher the probability of conversions, sales or even PSAs recruitment

You may also do the following to increase your SEO.

1. Have a regularly-updated and useful blog on your site.
2. Use words and phrases in your blog which are relevant to your site tags.
3. Participate in popular forums with very good “comments” linked to your blog.
4. Post articles in highly-ranked and very popular Articles Directories and linked to your blog.
5. Submit your site URL to popular Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and many others for “indexing.”
6. Have a business page for your site in social media sites like facebook and link it to Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+.

These are a few things I can remember now on how to optimize your site but please talk to Webmasters who are experts in the field as I am no expert in the field myself.

I hope this answers your question. Good luck in your SEO.

Keywords to Avoid When Setting Up Ads on Search Engines

White on red SEO Strategies marked out as road signs.
This problem appears to be a very dicey one. This is because the words to avoid are in the millions. While the words to use are usually fewer, say between 2-6 keywords which the site was optimized with for good results. What readily comes to mind is to avoid keywords which have not been pre-optimized for your site. If you are using your own website designed by yourself, recall that you must have optimized the site with certain keywords which enable the site to rank well in Search Engine results. That is what Webmasters call Search Engine Optimization, SEO. If the site was designed by a professional, he too would also have optimized it with keywords relevant to the type of business you are promoting.

The words to avoid are those words which are not useful for your SEO ranking. It is near impossible to list them all here. If however your problem is about listing the right keywords, it would have been a fairly easy problem to tackle because those ones are usually fewer.

Please note that no keywords are really bad as such. What is bad is if the words are not relevant to your type of business. Having said all that, I strongly advise you to avoid the word “blast” either in your keywords or even in text ads. Many Search Engines really “hate” that word. You will be doing yourself and your business a lot of good if you avoid using it to promote your business.

Best of luck in your SEO marketing!
